One of the ideas I was throwing around for my girls’ 4th and 2nd joint birthday party is a superhero theme. While they are both petite, they are also both super tough and strong willed. I could definitely see this being a fun theme for them.
Because of that I scoured the internet for some fun party ideas for a girls superhero party and I found some great stuff. Plus, I have some fun girl superhero themed items in my Etsy shop. Below you can check out all of the hero-y things I found.
Invitations
As for invitations, I designed my own fun female superhero invite that includes a photo of the birthday girl. I also have a matching thank you card as well. You can have them printed out or just send the image as an evite via text or email.
With Corjl, you don’t even need to be at a computer to add in your party info and picture to the invite. You can edit everything straight from your mobile device and then just send it out to all of your guests!
Favors
These favor bags from My Creative Party Studio are awesome. You just purchase the solid color gift bags and then print out these design elements. Cut them out and glue them to the bags to turn plain old solid color bags into your favorite super heroes.
Batman Flashlights
If you are wondering what to put in these favor bags, then check out this idea from My Litter. These fun batman flashlights are so fun. I could definitely see my girls running around with these.
They are super cute and just require adding a bat symbol to a black and yellow flashlight.
Superhero Lollipops
These superhero lollipops from Zakka Life are so cute. They were originally intended to be valentines, but you can totally use them as party favors too!
In addition to these ideas, you can find a ton of superhero party favors on Oriental Trading, but you will see more about them later on in this post.
Party Food
Healthy Heroes
Parties are always a license to eat sweets and treats, but offering some appetizing looking healthy snacks is always a great idea.
This idea from Simply Sarah Style for superhero-themed fruit skewers is awesome! Just pick your favorite character, and then use their signature colors as inspiration for your skewer.
Make the most of the rainbow of fruit colors to find the best-suited colors for your favorite superhero – blue and red for Superman or Spider-man; black and yellow for Batman; green and purple for the Incredible Hulk; red and yellow for Iron Man; and so on.
On the other hand, you could try dishing up a superhero salad bar like this one from Sweeten Your Day Events. How cool would it be to pick your own super power – those shape-shifting grapes look delicious! You could also try ‘laser vision’ carrots, ‘super strength’ broccoli florets, ‘super speed’ celery sticks or ‘force field’ melon wedges.
These Thor hammers from Masshole Mommy not only look the part, but they are quick to assemble and tasty to eat! Plus they include my kids two favorite types of food, cheese and carbs.
All you need to do is cut some cheese into cubes, insert the pretzel stick handles, and you’re done! Thor would be proud.
Superhero Party Food On A Stick
Kids LOVE food on a stick – it instantly becomes a hit at a party. From chicken skewers to fruit kebabs, there are plenty of options to choose from.
These Oreo cake pops from Karo’s Fun Land are bound to be a huge success. Karo’s tutorial makes these really easy to put together – but we recommend you make extra because these will be snapped up!
For a different take, what about these dipped Oreos on a stick? Liz On Call gives some great ideas on how to make these superhero pops.
These Incredible Hulk marshmallow pops with chocolate sprinkles for hair look awesome! Check out the video tutorial from Sugar and Soul Co to see how to create them. If you are feeling artistic, you could draw a face using an edible marker.
Use icing or an icing pen to draw villains and heroes on marshmallows for a quick superhero party food idea. This version from Look What I Made shows just how easy it is to create an eye-catching centerpiece for your superhero party.
Super Bites
These is something so enticing about bite-size party food! This is definitely my guilty pleasure – they’re so tiny the calories don’t count, right?
Sometimes all it takes is the right packaging. Parcel up some crisps, popcorn or sweets in little homemade cones – they look fantastic and take minimal effort!
For added style, why not try comic book printed paper or pages?
If you need a holder for the cones, try using a shoe box or cereal box. Cover it with paper (even wrapping paper would work well), then pierce a pattern of holes approximately 1-2 inches in diameter in the cardboard to hold the cones.
A Grande Life created these Captain America shield bites, which look fantastic. All it took were some pretzels, white chocolate melts and M&Ms – simple!
Party guests of all ages will appreciate this superhero platter. Designed by Cheryl Cavanaugh to look like Captain America’s shield, it is the perfect mix of naughty and nice. This combo of bite-sized bits is really effective, but this could also be recreated for other superheroes – for example, a bat-shape made of blackberries in the center of a melon or pineapple chunk oval platter.
This idea for Poison Ivy seeds could not be any easier! Varying shades of green – Skittles, M&Ms, Smarties – do all the work for you. Get the birthday girl to do the artwork, and you are officially done!
Uncustomary Housewife deserves all the credit for this idea, which was part of a Batman birthday party and featured lots of simple superhero party food ideas to tie in all the villains and heroes from Gotham City.
Superhero Cupcakes
A kids party without cupcakes? Is it even possible?!
Sugar Swings created these cupcakes, and gives some great tips on how to use a printed template to create the cupcake toppers.
Tableware
My go-to for tableware is always Oriental Trading. They have so many themes to choose from, they are bound to have the plates, napkins, cups, and tons of other items to fit your theme. You can find decor and party favors there as well.
Party Activities
When you have a bunch of kiddos running around, things can get messy with nothing to do. Check out these activities to keep your guests entertained at the party.
Superhero Pinata
One super fun party activity is having a pinata. In this tutorial, Amy shows you how to use a moving box to make a fun double sided Wonder Woman and Superman pinata.
DIY Superhero Cape
This amazing idea comes from Super Simple. They take linen capes and let the kiddos decorate them as a fun activity that also turns into a party favor.
You can purchase pre-made linen capes or they also give you instructions to make your own out of fabric. This can be a fun activity for both kids and adults. They also have a printable at the end of the tutorial which you can use to come up with your superhero name. So fun!
Superhero Paper Plate Masks
Another awesome activity is creating these superhero paper plate masks. Kids can make their favorite superhero, or design a mask for their own superhero. This idea from Meaningful Mama is sure to be a winner.
Printable Party Activities
Eclectic Momsense has several ideas for superhero birthday party activities. Check out her post for a Hulk Smash activity, a pin the star on the shield game, and a throwing practice game.
Party Bundle
In addition to the invitation in my Etsy Shop, I also have a Superhero Girls party bundle. In addition to the editable invites and thank yous, it also includes cupcake wrappers, cupcake/cake toppers, favor tags, favor boxes, place/food label cards, a baby milestone poster, and photo props.
You can personalize these items in Corjl, so everyone can see the hero you’re celebrating. All the items are also available individually so you can get just what you need.
I hope these ideas help you create the perfect superhero birthday for your kiddo. Superheros are for everyone and your girl will love these ideas for making her party rock!
Cheers,
Emily
